When do we apply?

At KIS, we operate on a rolling admissions system, which means that applications are accepted, and students are admitted at any time during the academic year. Prospective parents are encouraged to start the application process for the following year as soon as possible. KIS also accepts mid-year transfer, however, student must go through the application process, meet our admissions standards and then files are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

How do we apply for KIS?

What are the nationalities of the school’s teachers?

We are an international school, so we recruit only the highly experienced and inspirational teachers from around the world. We have significant experience in recruiting highly dedicated teachers who care deeply about their students’ progress and well-being and can deliver inspiring subject lessons to drive enthusiasm and achievement for your child.

Does KIS accept students with special needs?

We don’t have a learning support centre for special needs. However, on an individual basis, children with modest learning difficulties will be evaluated for admission. All previous reports and assessments from previous schools must be provided by the parents.

What communication is there between school and home?

  • Parents’ Handbook and Curriculum Descriptions provided each year.
  • One Parents’ meeting per term for individual consultation on academic progress.
  • Individual appointments with the appropriate teacher, department Head or Head of School may be made throughout the academic year.
  • Parents receive regular written reports.
  • School Weekly plans are published every Thursday on our online students’ accounts.

When can prospective parents visit KIS?

The school welcomes parents to visit by appointment during the school week during the school year. This allows parents to observe the school in action. Parents will get the opportunity to ask questions to the Head of K.G. and primary section and  Head of lower and upper secondary in addition to the tour. Parents are strongly encouraged to call the school ahead of time to schedule a visit.

How long is the school day?

Our school day is:

From 8:00 – 12:30 pm for Pre Kg students

From 8:00 – 1:00 pm for Kg1 students

From 8:00 – 1:30 pm for Kg 2 students

From 8:00 – 2:00 pm for Kg 3 students

From 8:00 – 2:40pm for students in Year 1 through Year 12.

What is the Curriculum that the school offer in the English Section?

In the English section, we offer the English National Curriculum (internationally often called the British Curriculum) from Early Years to Year 12, one of the most stable and best recognized curriculums in the world. Our students take the IGCSE Public Examinations at the end of Year 10 and the A levels at the end of year 11 and 12.

What is the International Baccalaureate (IB)?

This is the programme of study that we follow in our French Section. It is a highly acclaimed and world recognized. In our school, we offer the PYP “ primary years programme” and MYP “middle years programme” For further details, please see the IB’s website www.ibo.org .
